Our Story
A cairn is a stack of stones left by those who came before — a marker, a memory, a way of saying I was here, and I left something for you. Cairn & Crumb was born from that same spirit: a Scottish family heritage, a mother who trusted her daughter with the holiday croissants before she had any business being trusted with them, and a lifelong love of feeding the people who matter most. Every loaf, every cookie, every roll is baked from scratch in small batches with quality ingredients and the kind of care that only comes from doing something you were always meant to do.

La Gringa

La Gringa was what they called my mother when she married into an Ecuadorean family. It wasn't meant kindly. It became a badge of honor. This 30 oz sourdough loaf carries her name because it is the purest thing we make — a from-scratch, small-batch loaf with a thin crackled crust and a gentle hint of sour that knows when to stop. We are not in the business of tang for its own sake. We are in the business of bread worth coming back for. She taught me that.
The Crawford

Every bakery has an origin story. This is ours. The Crawford is named for my mother's family — the Scottish Crawford line that gave Cairn and Crumb its name, its spirit, and its reason for being. Butter folded through every layer for a flaky, shattering crust. A cinnamon swirl at its quiet center. Baked from scratch with the care she showed me. I miss her. But she is in this kitchen with me. The Crawford is how I bring her to your table.

Some recipes are born in cookbooks. This one was born in chaos — two boys, an empty cookie jar, and a mother who learned fast. Dos Monitos (the two monkeys) are our signature chocolate chip cookies, baked in the oversized, nothing-left-for-later tradition of feeding hungry kids who never stopped growing. Three cookies, 5 oz each, made from scratch with real butter, real chocolate, and real love. The raw dough still lives in our freezer. Old habits die hard.
